India's Kandla e-methanol plant breaks ground: Sonowal, Patel and Sarma lay foundation for 150-TPD green fuel project creating 3,000 jobs.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the foundation-laying ceremony for a new e-methanol plant at Kandla and were photographed together ahead of the event.
The facility is planned at a capacity of 150 tonnes per day and represents a joint undertaking by Assam and Gujarat in the green fuel space.
Assam Chief Minister Sarma has previously indicated that APCL will contribute its methanol production expertise to the venture.
In his framing, the plant draws on the respective strengths of both states in the emerging e-methanol sector, with Assam's input coming through that technical experience while the facility itself sits on Gujarati soil at Kandla.
Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Chief Minister Sarma said the project is expected to provide employment to nearly 3,000 youths.
That figure stands as one of the principal commitments associated with the development as it moves forward.
The e-methanol facility is part of a broader green fuel push focused on Kandla, the location where the plant is to be established.
With its stated 150-tonnes-per-day capacity, the project is positioned as a significant addition to India's e-methanol production plans, and the laying of the foundation marks the formal beginning of its development.
With the foundation laid, the 150-TPD plant now transitions from announcement into its construction phase.
The collaboration between Assam and Gujarat, APCL's involvement on the production side, and the projected employment of close to 3,000 youths remain the defining elements of the project as it advances.
